Frequently asked questions

Is Step Step really free?

Yes. All your daily step tracking and core stats are free, forever, with no ads. An optional premium upgrade unlocks deeper historical trends and advanced tools โ€” but you never need it for everyday use.

Do you collect or sell my data?

Never. Step Step is 100% on-device โ€” there's no backend server, no account, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. Your health data never leaves your iPhone. See our Privacy Policy.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Step Step works great with just your iPhone โ€” it reads step data from the iPhone's motion sensor, and you can record walks, runs, hikes and rides right from the phone. If you do have an Apple Watch (or another device that syncs to Apple Health), that data flows in automatically.

Which devices and data sources work?

Step Step reads from Apple Health. That means your iPhone, Apple Watch, and any device or app that syncs into Apple Health (such as Oura, Whoop or Garmin Connect) will show up. We don't connect to those services directly โ€” they feed Apple Health, and we read from there.

Is there an Android version?

Not currently. Step Step is built natively for iPhone (iOS) and relies on Apple Health, so there's no Android version today.

How do I log my weight or a workout?

Tap the + button in the tab bar to quickly log a weight entry or record a workout. Weight entries and manual workouts are written back to Apple Health so everything stays in sync.

What does premium include?

Premium unlocks long-term historical trends, advanced workout and step analytics, and extra custom tools. You can support development with a small subscription or a one-off lifetime purchase. There are no ads either way.

How do I delete my data?

Because everything is stored on your device and in Apple Health, you're always in control. Delete entries directly in the Health app, or remove Step Step's access in Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Health. Deleting the app removes all of its own on-device data.

I found a bug or have a feature idea.

Brilliant โ€” please tell us! Email support@step-step.app with as much detail as you can (what you did, what happened, your iPhone model and iOS version). Indie apps get better because of messages like yours.
