🌖 About Step Step

Why I made this.

Two busy parents, doing our best to reach our fitness goals in the middle of a wonderfully chaotic life, gently and sustainably.

Gwilym and Fiona on an evening walk by the sea

Hi, I'm Gwilym. I design and build Step Step.

Every evening after dinner, Fiona and I go for a walk. It's how we decompress, talk about the day, and quietly chase our 8,000 steps: the one bit of exercise that survives work, school runs and bedtimes.

When I went looking for a simple tracker to keep us honest, everything was cluttered, complicated, or interrupted the calmest part of my day with a full-screen ad. The apps treated walking like a performance to optimise. For us it's closer to a ritual.

So I built the tracker I wanted us to use: one that feels like the night sky: quiet, patient, and on your side. A ring to close, a streak that bends instead of breaking, and nothing that nags, sells, or leaves your phone.

Who makes it

Built by one busy parent.
Walked by another.

Builds every screen of Step Step between school runs, because the tracker he wanted for our family didn't exist.

Walks every build before anyone else sees it, and vetoes anything that nags, shames, or gets in the way of an evening walk.

Step Step started as an app for the two of us: busy parents trying to get healthier one evening walk at a time. It's grown from there, but every decision still passes the same test: would we actually use this?

Come for a walk.
